Multiple views of the completed character demonstrating consistent proportions, silhouette, and form from all angles. Although this model was created as a study, I wanted the character to remain cohesive beyond the primary angle.

Early sculpt exploring the silhouette, proportions, and gesture before introducing materials or color. I focused on establishing appealing forms that would preserve the charm of the original art and getting mileage out of the armature I built in Nomad.

Progression capture of development from an initial sculpt to the final painted render. Beginning with a simple armature, I refined the silhouette, anatomy, and proportions before layering in materials, hand-painted color, lighting, and presentation.

The finished render showcasing the completed character. This image represents the culmination of the study, bringing together stylized anatomy, simplified forms, painterly color, and soft lighting inspired by the warmth and charm of the original sketch.

Birdie! Sam Yang Pose Study

I have been messing around with some foundational armatures I built in nomad sculpt. I used a pose study done by Sam Yang and just couldn't stop! Had to finish it.
---
This personal study began as a way to explore Nomad Sculpt while traveling and quickly evolved into a deeper exercise in stylized character creation.
Inspired by the work of Sam Yang, I selected one of his illustrations as a reference for both pose and color direction. Rather than creating an original character design, my goal was to study how his appealing shapes, anatomy, proportions, and color relationships could be interpreted in 3D.
---
The project challenged me to rely on observation rather than technical shortcuts, strengthening my eye for stylized anatomy, simplified forms, and painterly color. Everything in the final model, including sculpting, painting, materials, lighting, and rendering, was created in Nomad Sculpt. Procreate was used only to assemble the presentation sheets and turnaround layouts.
---
This was created as a personal study and learning exercise.
